MCPPO Designation

Increasing the number of MCPPO designees is central to our mission. The designation equips public employees with the knowledge to navigate procurement law and best practices, reducing risks, and strengthening good government.

What Is the MCPPO Designation?

The MCPPO (Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official) Designation is widely recognized as an indication of an individual’s knowledge of Massachusetts procurement laws and best practices.

An MCPPO Designation is valid for three years from the date of issue. MCPPO designees must maintain their knowledge and skills and document continuing professional education when they apply to renew their designation every three years.

Continuing Education Credits for MCPPO Renewal

Students may earn continuing education credits through OIG Academy courses, or outside procurement-related activity.

Applicants who wish to submit CE credits earned outside of the OIG Academy must provide evidence of the learning activity. These credits must be procurement-related and approved by OIG Academy Staff.

Students are awarded one credit for every 60 minutes of procurement-related training. Partial credit may be awarded in 15-minute increments.

Students may earn continuing education credits in four ways.
