The OIG Academy provides practical, real-world training for government professionals and nonprofit and vendor employees involved in government projects, and promotes excellence in public procurement, sound governance, and the protection of public funds and assets.

What We Offer

The OIG Academy maintains a broad curriculum that includes both general and specialized classes and training for public and private employees. The OIG Academy’s classes and training range from beginner-level classes about public procurement to more advanced topics including cybersecurity, design and construction planning, and diversity and inclusion in procurement.

The cornerstone of the program is the MCPPO Designation, which is a widely recognized credential signifying an expertise in basic Massachusetts public procurement practices. Municipal job postings often require MCPPO Designation.

Recipients of an MCPPO Designation successfully complete three required courses and pass examinations.

Registration and Payment

The OIG Academy operates on a trimester schedule – Spring (January – June), Summer (July – August), Fall (September – December). Course schedules are released at least four weeks prior to the start of a new trimester.

Access the OIG Academy Course Catalog to register and pay for classes. Courses are offered on a first come, first served basis and payment must be received at the time of registration.  Waitlists are only available for our free webinars.

We accept Credit/Debit, P-Card, or E-Check. Payments are processed through a third-party payor system, nCourt. You will receive a receipt via email from nCourt.

If you are having trouble processing a payment, verify the payor’s name and address match the name and address of the card holder. If you need support, contact the nCourt support line to discuss your options at 877-352-8560.

OIG Academy Accreditations Information

The OIG Academy maintains accreditation with several organizations and teaches procurement, contracting, fraud awareness, ethics and governance.

One Free Designee – Schools – DEADLINE June 30th

The One Free Designee – Schools program is available for any public school district, regional public school district, education collaborative and Horace Mann and Commonwealth charter schools and to those who are currently enrolled but have not yet completed the courses and continuing education credits to earn the MCPPO designation or renewal.

One Free Designee – Schools allows each public school district free tuition for the three classes, valued at $1,785, required for one employee to receive the MCPPO designation. Upon completion of the classes, an employee can apply for the MCPPO designation.

Applicants must be authorized by the Superintendent of Schools, Education Collaborative Executive Director or Charter School Leader. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. We will regretfully reject any applications that do not meet these requirements.

Participants in the One Free Designee – Schools program must enroll by June 30, 2026.
